I was born in Edinburgh and resided in the capital's historic Royal Mile. (An influence for my third novel, Awakening) Working for a well-known brewer as a representative, I relocated to Aberdeen then Glasgow. Attending college and university, I achieved Chartered Marketer status which assists in marketing my novels. I now stay in a Victorian property in acres of ground which looks onto the River Clyde and this was the spark for my debut novel, The Time Jigsaw. Check out timejigsaw.com for all novels.

Lochgilphed/Ardrishaig

The above locations received a visit yesterday. The library and Argyll Bookshop in Lochgilphead, plus the Grey Gull Inn at nearby Ardrishaig. For those who have read books 1 aand 3 in my series, the inn is mentioned frequently. My thanks to people I met on a warm sunny day in scenic Argyll.

Dingwall

My thanks to the people of this Scottish town set in the highlands for their welcoming attitude. A successful visit in terms of profile-raising and book purchases. However, during my visit, the town’s high street was a lot busier.

Metropolis

The forthcoming novel is set in Berlin between 1912 and 1940. One of the main characters, a young actress, has a role in an iconic film released in 1927. Shot in the German capital, the actress is caught up in a scandal.

Prinzenstrasse, Berlin. A scene from book 6 which is set in the German capital from 1912-1940. Claudine is a young French actress who is spotted by a German film director in Paris. After being offered a lucrative contract, she moves to Berlin and experiences the highs and lows of the most turbulent period in German history.

Scottish Book Week

Kingussie High School and the local library received an author visit yesterday. My thanks to the event organiser and staff for a warm welcome. An enjoyable day in the highlands.

Wick Book Festival

My thanks to the organisers for inviting me to participate in the festival held last weekend. A well-organised and enjoyable three days. A member of the committee interviewed yours truly on aspects relating to research, writing and marketing.

October 1962

October 1962 turned out to be a poignant period in time. Not only for the planet avoiding a nuclear war, also the first James Bond film and debut single by a group from Liverpool. With the forthcoming novel set in 1962, Earthman will give you a flavour of that year.

September 1962

In this month 60 years ago, medium-range missiles were shipped to Cuba and if armed, could reach America. Thus began the Cuban Missile Crisis which culminated in the above newspaper headline. The forthcoming novel is set before and during events and will be released in October to coincide when the crisis reached its peak. Details to follow.

West Calder Library

My thanks to those in the library’s book group who attended the Meet the Author event earlier today. An enjoyable evening in a historic building and one which I would term as a traditional library.
